Professional Development Programs

The Krause Center for Innovation’s mission is to design and implement innovative professional development education and training, with an emphasis on technology integration and STEM curriculum, to support the diverse workforce needed to compete in the knowledge economy. The KCI has been serving K-12 educators since 2000. Over 16,000 teachers have taken KCI courses. It has built a reputation on intensive summer institutes for educators, as well as the courses it provides throughout the year. The KCI has consistently focused on building innovative courses and programs and on evaluating and improving its methodologies.

The UC Berkeley History-Social Science Project works with history teachers to strengthen their instructional practice in order to provide meaningful and empowering educational opportunities for all students.

The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program - Long-Term Program

Fullbright Teacher Exchange

The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching (DA) Program provides funding for highly accomplished U.S. primary and secondary level educators to take part in an intensive professional development program for three to six months abroad.

Farm to School Grant Program

USDA

The purpose of the USDA Farm to School Grant Program is to assist eligible entities in implementing farm to school programs that improve access to local foods in eligible schools.

Teacher Programs

Teacher programs at SFMOMA are designed to introduce educators to the museum’s collection and special exhibitions, offer techniques and resources for integrating works of art into classroom curricula, and provide a forum for dialogue and exchange.

Use Music as a Tool to Teach Math and Science

MathScienceMusic.org is a free toolkit for teachers, bringing together the best resources in math, science and music. In 2016, the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz launched the first phase of Math, Science & Music, a new initiative that uses music as a tool to teach math and science to young people in public and private schools around the world. The program addresses the growing need for students to gain skills and acquire knowledge in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects and learn to think creatively.
